Small Businesses Turning To Mobile Advertising; Hiring Still Sluggish;

Small businesses are slowly turning to mobile advertising which to date has largely been the domain of major corporate advertisers.

While the numbers are relatively small, they do point to the fact that mobile advertising can generate sales for smaller enterprises.

A web.com survey shows that only 14% of small business respondents had a standalone mobile site.

Of those that did have a mobile advertising effort; 84% said this channel contributed to sales.

Interestingly, 40% of the respondents said they did not have a website at all.

Small businesses aren’t giving the economy the boost it needs. The latest job reports ae not encouraging and manufacturers are still reluctant to build invenstories.

Every study, anecdotal report, statistic shows a marked preference for smaller enterprises to play a waiting game.

Part of the answer is financial.  Small companies are not drawing down lines of credit, according to large and community banks.

Editor note: We are currently conducting a reader survey asking respondents what are your most pressing information needs.  As a result of analyzing early returns we are stepping up coverage of emerging trends and online marketing.  We are asking all readers to participate in the study with three respondents each winning a $50 American Express gift cards.  To participate in the survey click here.

Question:

Should I add visuals to financial presentations?

Answer:

"There is no excuse for thinking that visuals are not appropriate for your content. In fact, since data frequently numbs listeners, your need for visuals to illuminate your information is even stronger," Ann Miller, nationally known communications advisor.
