New Monthly DIY Beauty Kits Extends Product Line Of Serial Entrepreneur

There are a growing number of entrepreneurial created monthly subscription services offering regular monthly shipments of socks, shirts, and even toothpaste.

One of the more unique offerings is the Handmade Beauty Box.

It is a new monthly subscription service that delivers high quality do-it-yourself (DIY) beauty and spa projects to subscribers’ doors.

Inside the box are varying assemblages making it simple for anyone to create their own beauty products at home.

The service is the creation of Anne-Marie Faiola who refers to her creation as “a mini beauty lab in a box.”

Included in the kits are products such as lotion, lipstick, nail polish, mineral makeup, foot scrubs and more.

As Faiola explains it was the act of crafting with her children which led her to the creation of the Handmade Beauty Box.

“I thought, ‘Imagine a DIY beauty box for me and my girlfriends!’ I also noticed the popularity of my easy-to-use Bramble Berry soap kits, which made it clear that there was an entire group of people that sought personal DIY products,” she says.

“I thought and my success has proven that consumers wanted fully tested, skin-safe beauty and spa projects without having to spend hours researching techniques and ingredients. From there, Handmade Beauty Box was born!” she adds.

Not only is she a serial entrepreneur but Faiola is also the author of Soap Crafting, creator of the blog, Soap Queen, along with being the CEO and Founder of the Handmade Beauty Box.

Like many entrepreneurs, Faiola got the idea for her product in her own home.

It was the act of crafting with her children which led her to the creation of the Handmade Beauty Box. Faiola says,

“I thought, ‘Imagine a DIY beauty box for me and my girlfriends! I also noticed the popularity of my easy-to-use Bramble Berry soap kits, which made it clear that there was an entire group of people that wanted fully tested, skin-safe beauty and spa projects without having to spend hours researching techniques and ingredients. From there, Handmade Beauty Box was born!” she declared.

But having an idea and implementing it over time is not an easy avenue to success.

Faiola explains the process she and her staff go through in providing a new group of ingredients each month.

“We make sure to fully test out all the projects and create step-by-step instructions so they turn out great every time. Whenever possible, we include downloadable label templates to make the subscribers’ creations gift and display worthy. When deciding what each month’s project will be, we take a lot of direction from the Handmade Beauty Box community and listen to what the community wants to make.”

“We also look at the most popular blog posts from my DIY blog, SoapQueen.com and see how we can tweak them to make them for Handmade Beauty Box. Each project is designed by myself and my longtime friend and employee, Courtney Lane,” Ann-Marie says.

She believes this process can be also be a positive experience.

“It’s so fun to spend an afternoon crafting, laughing and creating. We make sure to fully test out all the projects and create step-by-step instructions so they turn out great every time. Whenever possible, we include downloadable label templates to make the creations gift and display worthy.”

Faiola’s blog is the starting point for the marketing effort and as she says, a valuable research tool.

Amidst all the entrepreneur has achieved, she remains motivated and has even bigger dreams for Handmade Beauty Box.

“I’d like to expand the brand with a 100% organic ingredients box and start a Party in a Box program. Since launching, we’ve heard many stories of girlfriends subscribing together and then doing a DIY party. Since Handmade Beauty Box is a mini beauty lab in a box, it is a perfect activity to do with friends and family,” she explains.

The Handmade Beauty Box is $29.99 monthly with shipping included—the product can be ordered one-off or as an ongoing subscription.

Her efforts have been recognized by others.

Faiola has been named one of the Best Bosses in America by Winning Workplaces, (now awarded through Forbes), Best Entrepreneur in Washington State by the Women President’s Organization, and one of the Top 50 Entrepreneurs in the United States by the Small Business Association. She lives in Bellingham, WA with her entrepreneur husband, who owns an engineering firm, and her two children.
